It kills over 300,000 people a year. It can affect anyone regardless of your race, sex, or age. It cannot be seen, treated, readily detected or destroyed. It is capable of destroying millions of people without wars or violence. HIV/AIDS has been with us for a long time, but it remains a problem whose solution continues to elude us all. We are making some progress in understanding this challenge, but we still have a long way to go in containing its spread. I advocate today to further and consolidate a partnership in responding to this major challenge particularly the stigma that continues to be associated with it. We seek your partnership because we know that every individual has a special and unique role to play in combating HIV infection and caring for those living with HIV/AIDS.

I joined Ohana Cordillera organization solely in stopping the stigmatization and people being dogmatic about HIV/AIDS. I want people to change their way of thinking about this virus or disease, by acknowledging it is real. Through the effective mobilization of information in the partnership of local, national and international communities. To be able to reach, respond and support the needs of People Living with HIV, along with their families and significant others.
I want People Living with HIV to be empowered by recognizing their potentials and talents.Their voices are heard and not silenced by their mistakes or decisions, for it does define who they are.

The most important part of life's battles is the one we fight in the silent chambers of the soul. Each step I take seems tiring. I often thought of giving up but what keeps me going is something that is above me. In my heart I know I must believe that I can do things. Whatever goal we are pursuing, we are certain to get there by trying our best.

"This world is fading away, along with everything it craves. But if you do the will of the Father, you will live forever." - 1 John 2:17 (NLT)
I always wonder what is my purpose in life. For 20 years, I keep on searching for an answer until one day I found the missing piece of me. Ohana Cordillera lead me to my purpose and that is to be an advocate who will impart awareness about HIV/AIDS, influence stakeholders to accept PLHIV and instill in the hearts and minds of people that HIV/AIDS should not be feared rather it should be faced and cured.

We should be responsible for planning and development programs that will focus on the welfare of entertainers regarding the transmission, prevention, and treatment of HIV. Disseminating information about HIV and violence against workers interlinked; creating messages that are positive which show shared responsibility of women and men for sexual, and health decisions; planning programs that address sexual practices that could place men and women at risked of becoming infected; and developing a program that assist entertainers living with HIV to make informed choices and decisions by providing the full range of information about potential outcomes.
